Maryland Offers Donation Opportunity to Younger Residents

While the law in most states requires blood donors to be at least 17 years of age, a group of young activists helped change all that in the state of Maryland. Since 2002, it is now legal in the state of Maryland for 16-year-old participants to donate blood, with the written permission of a parent or legal guardian. This opportunity has allowed the donor base to grow within the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Region, as younger participants are now eligible to give the gift of life. If you are interested in more information about this new law, or are a parent or teenager that would like the parental consent package and permission slip, please click here and let us know. We will respond as quickly as possible.
